INCUBATION OF DIPSLIDE TESTS Incubation of dipslides is an essential part of monitoring microbiological activity. Incubators are designed to maintain a constant temperature ensuring that the microbiological culture growth is consistent each time a test is taken.
A lower temperature can mean the bacteria will grow more slowly and give a false low reading. If your reading is artificially low then the treatment engineer will consider that no action is necessary and the bacteria will be free to multiply and increase the risk to public health. Conversely if the temperature is high then the growth may be accelerated giving a false positive. This false high bacteria count can lead to unnecessary and expensive extra cleaning and treatment processes.
Incubators provide peace of mind to the treatment engineers, show duty of care to the inspectorate and can save money in the long run. This incubator holds 20 slides and is supplied as 2 models, EDT052 MV (Multivoltage) which allows use in the car and with mains or EDT053 DM (Direct Mains) for use on mains supply only.
CHALLENGER INCUBATOR The DTK Challenger incubator has a capacity to incubate 20 dipslides and the temperature can be adjusted between ambient and 45°C. The incubator has a transparent shatterproof lid which allows easy observation of the dipslides. Running on 220/240V mains electricity or 12V car lighter socket it is protected by an internal fuse and has over-temp protection for safe extended use.
